How can a Training Room change lives?

Last week, I was feeling sorry for myself as I had been on the road for weeks without much rest, had a pinched nerve so pain was keeping me irritated, and the weather was terrible. Mentally, and physically I was drained.

I was in the Milwaukee area with Jerry Grosenick and a few agents to check out his new offices training center. Jerry called me that morning and asked if I could speak at the dedication of his new training room.

Jerry planned to surprise his wife by dedicating the new training room to his wife, Laura. Laura is a behind-the-scenes leader who works tirelessly to help Jerry and the entire office find success. She’s the type of person who loves Jerry so unconditionally that it enables him to chase after his dreams.

With her friends and family in the audience, we dedicated the new training facility to Laura Grosenick, a true leader. This came as a complete surprise to Laura and she was completely shocked. There was not a dry eye in the crowd as Jerry hugged his wife.

What started out as a simple training room and an office opening became a priceless memory that will change lives.

We are surrounded by leaders who many people never see but are working behind the scenes to make everything go smoothly. They are the ones who are arriving early and staying late to get things done. These leaders take shape in administrators, office managers, marketing assistants, and receptionists. Far too often, they don’t get recognition for what they do.

It’s moments like this dedication that make you forget about your problems, struggles, or challenges that you are facing and remember your “why.” Despite having a tough week, it was all worth it to see the happiness in Laura and Jerry’s eyes.

This reminded me of my “Why" and to remember to reward and recognize the behind-the-scenes leaders in your my own life.

Laura does work tirelessly behind the scene and I think this was a wonderful idea on Jerry's part. Great blog post Bill on how we need to remember all those people that work and serve behind the scenes, never demanding recognition, and how they help the rest of us shine and be successful.
