Fair housing for all

Since the company’s inception, EXIT Realty Corp. International has stood on a firm foundation in the belief that everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to live.

Corporate philanthropy is built into EXIT’s business model and for many years, the company partnered with Habitat for Humanity International, fully sponsoring nearly 20 decent and affordable Habitat homes, participated in the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project both in the U.S. and Canada, and transformed a community to be more vibrant and safer through neighborhood revitalization.

In 2016, EXIT Realty introduced a program to match funds raised by its brokerages and agents to benefit Habitat for Humanity initiatives in their local communities.  Because the company wanted to reach more communities, in 2017 the initiative was expanded to include any local approved, registered charity, and many EXIT Associates continued their efforts with Habitat, but also explored other opportunities to make an impact.  One such example of a local non-profit that benefited from a Spirit of EXIT initiative was Rebuilding Together Fox Valley, an organization that assists low-income families by rehabilitating their homes which have fallen into disrepair.  

Beyond the corporation’s charitable involvements, EXIT associates across the U.S and Canada advocate for diversity and inclusion in their communities.  Mo Simmons, a sales representative with EXIT Realty Horizons in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, works with Take Root Milwaukee.  As described in a local news story and on their website, Take Root Milwaukee is “a consortium of 50 community organizations, neighborhoods groups, housing counseling agencies, Realtors, and lenders working to promote sustainable homeownership in the City of Milwaukee.”  

In 2021 EXIT Realty Corp. International partnered with LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance, an organization dedicated to closing the homeownership gap for individuals in the LGBTQ+ community.  In a press release issued at the time of the announcement, Ryan Weyandt, CEO of The Alliance, stated, “Many are surprised to learn that gender identity and sexual orientation are not protected classes under the Fair Housing Act in the U.S. We are working hard to eliminate discrimination as a major barrier to homeownership and wealth creation; we’re here to knock down those walls.”

EXIT Realty Corp. International’s CEO, Tami Bonnell, who is an active member NAWRB’s Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Council, says, “The number one dream is home ownership; it improves communities, the future for our children, and it is the best way to build wealth for most people.
